Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Convertly CHRONO and its online time tools.
Is Convertly CHRONO really free?
Yes, all the tools (timer, stopwatch, alarm and their 37 variants) are entirely free, with no usage limit and no sign-up.
Do I need to create an account to use the tools?
No. No sign-up is required. The tools are accessible instantly from your browser.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. No usage data (durations, laps, alarms) is sent to a server.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown uses a precise timestamp system, so it stays accurate even if the tab goes to the background. The end sound plays when you return to the page.
Can I use the site on mobile?
Yes. The interface is designed mobile-first: adapted touch targets, readable fonts, iOS anti-zoom on input fields.
Does the alarm work when the phone is locked?
No. Web alarms depend on the browser being active. For a guaranteed alarm while your phone is in standby, use your phone's native Clock app. CHRONO is optimized for short timers while the tab is open.
How do I turn off the sound?
Each tool has a dedicated button to turn the sound on or off. You can also use the silent version (visual flash) on the relevant variants.
Does the site use cookies?
Only technical cookies necessary for it to function and, with your consent, audience measurement cookies. Details on the Cookies page.
What's the difference between a timer and a stopwatch?
The timer counts down from a set duration. The stopwatch counts elapsed time up from zero, generally with a lap system.
